Meet the physicians at Sports Medicine Associates, PLC.

James l. moeller, md, facsm

  • Undergraduate: Michigan State University

  • Medical School: Michigan State College of Human Medicine

  • Residency: St Joseph's Medical Center

  • Sports Medicine Fellowship: Michigan State University

 

Dr. Moeller is a board certified Sports Medicine specialist and Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine. He served as the Chief Medical Officer of the 2010 United States Olympic Team in Vancouver, BC, Canada and was the US Olympic Speedskating Team Physician in 2006 in Torino, Italy.  He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Health Sciences at Oakland University William Beaumont Hospital School of Medicine.  Dr. Moeller has written numerous sports medicine related journal articles, and has been the editor of two sports medicine books. Dr. Moeller has served on the Board of Directors for both the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the American College of Sports Medicine.  Dr. Moeller serves as Head Team Physician for Oakland University, Troy and Troy Athens as well as Bloomfield Hills High School.

Dr. Rifat is a Board Certified Sports Medicine Specialist and a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine. He is an Associate Professor at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. Dr. Rifat has authored numerous scientific papers, written several book chapters, and is co-editor of the Winter Sports Medicine Handbook. He is a team physician for USA Figure Skating and has provided medical coverage at national and international competitions. Dr. Rifat currently serves as Team Physician for Notre Dame Preparatory High School and the Brooks-Hansons Distance Running Project. He has been honored as one of Detroit Hour Magazine's "Top Docs" 2003, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2016.
